Mr. Boots

Born
approx. 2001, Male-neutered, Tabby with white, short hair (#5002), FIV+
This
handsome boy is an absolute sweetheart! Mr. Boots had a very serious
and infected bite wound when he was found by some very caring people who
contacted The Rescue House to help. He has
recovered beautifully and is looking for his wonderful permanent home.
Mr.Boots
purrs so easily – all you have to do is look at him and
his motor turns on! He loves people and follows you around everywhere.
He loves being on your lap and on your chest if you are lying down. Mr.
Boots will find anywhere close to you to just lay down and cuddle. When
he plays, he wants to do that right by your side also. Mr. Boots likes
to be around other cats; we are not sure about dogs or children. He is
SOOOO loveable and SOOOO affectionate - just the best!
We consider Mr.
Boots a “special needs kitty” because although he is very
strong and healthy, he did test positive for FIV, a condition the
veterinarian community is understanding more and more about every day.
The following summary information about FIV is from the Best Friends
Animal Sanctuary website:
http://www.afa.arlington.ma.us/FIV.html.
FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. FIV is a "slow virus"
that affects the cats’ immune system over a period of years. It is a
cat-only virus and cannot be passed to humans or other non-felines such
as dogs; it is very species specific.
FIV is also NOT
easily passed between cats and, if that does occur, is through a
serious, penetrating bite wound; not a frequent occurrence among
domestic cats. FIV can not be spread casually. Casual includes litter
boxes, water and food bowls or snuggling and playing.
As long as cats with FIV are not exposed to diseases that
their immune system can't handle, they can live perfectly normal lives.
Since their immune system is gradually weakened, they are more
susceptible to infections so should visit a vet at the first sign of
illness and should be fed a high-quality diet. FIV cats most often live
long, happy, healthy, normal lives with no symptoms at all.
Mr. Boots is such a
love; won’t you let him love you?
